Leukoplakia can occur when the tongue experienced irritation, more often found in smokers and those who consume many alcoholic beverages. Leukoplakia is harmless, but sometimes it can turn into cancer if left without many years of handling. Immediately consult a doctor if the white patches on the tongue does not go away after two weeks.

Oral thrush
Oral thrush or oral candidiasis, also known as caused by buildup or the growth of the fungus Candida albicans that is too fast. These fungi are organisms that are normally present in the mouth. Oral thrush can cause sharp pain or burning sensation on the tongue, as well as plaque white (sometimes red) that feels pain and can be scraped away.
